What an amazing place!
I have been wanting to visit the Cederberg Mountains for quite some time now. The camping place we went to was about 260 km driving North from Cape Town. We had a long weekend to enjoy Cederberg – chilling in the mountains, drinking wine, eating at the campfire, jumping in waterfalls… We stayed at an amazing camping place called Cederberg Oasis. At this place they had a swimming pool, 2 cute dogs who jumped on my lap the moment we arrived and oranges, berries, guava’s and pecan nuts growing on the trees. YUMMY!© 2013 Herman Jordaan © 2013 Herman Jordaan © 2013 Herman Jordaan
The first night we braaied (BBQ) some delicious meat at the campfire and the second night we made some Potjiekos! It was AMAZING! Lamb stew, Mushrooms, Potatoes, Hot peppers, Loads of spices and all other secret ingredients + lots of love of course. With this we had some local wines, a nice cold Hunters Dry (Love that stuff!) and lots of water. During the first (hot) day we went for a little hike close to were we were staying, called Maalgat Walk. This was a great short walk which you can even do in you’re flip-flops! After this you get rewarded with an awesome place where you can jump of rocks, right in the freeezing cold water (also called the Hippo Pool)!© 2013 Herman Jordaan © 2013 Herman Jordaan
This was definitely a great weekend!! There’s loads to do in the Cederberg area! We also did some wine-tasting at Cederberg wines at Cederberg Cellar in Sanddrif (lekker!!) & did a beautiful 8 hour hike to the Wolfberg Cracks & Arch (check my coming update for that!). Definitely worth visiting for a weekend!! Perfect combination of outdoor activities, looking at the stars, drinking wine & partying if you want to.
