A trip up to the Wolfberg Cracks & Arch

While being in the Cederberg mountains, you definitely have to do a great hike like this!

Beautiful scenery,  a (very) good work out and a lot of fun. This hike is supposed to take about 8 hours return – counting some stops for drinking water, having lunch or just enjoying the amazing views! Check out Wolfberg Cracks & Arch for more information on the hike. To do the hike you need to get a permit first at Sanddrif.

The day we hiked It was a super hot day (as always in the Cederberg), with lots of sunshine – so happy I could borrow a cap!

During the hike – apparently you need to follow piles of rock to see where you’re going. You first pass 3 cracks on your way to the Arch. We did a lot of jumping on rocks, looking for cool spots and a lot of ‘getting lost’. Yep, our route to the Arch took us waaay longer then it should – since we didn’t actually follow the path all the time. We did see some awesome stuff on the way though. Saw some Bloukop Koggelmanders (wondering what that is? Look at the Bloukop Koggelmander here) and some beautiful flowers!

Halfway we took a little break and had some lunch – I have to say, this view was definitely worth the climbing up for! Not a bad place for lunch, right?!

Finally reaching the Arch was definitely the highlight of the hike though! My god, had I been looking forward to that moment!

The way back only took us about 2 hours, as opposed to the 6 hours to get there. Gotta appreciate everything there though, it’s so pretty! You just need to stop loads of times and just indulge in the moment!

Getting back to the car after the whole day of hiking.. definitely another highlight! Took a hot shower afterwards, got the campfire going and had some leftover potjie for dinner, with a cold Hunters. I slept like a baby that night!

Thanks Cederberg mountains!! I will definitely be back!
